[attr="class","likedoinfo"]
Progressing in The Geistritter, aka Drakenstein's Dark Knights, is done via ranks, not too dissimilar to how ranking up works on the site though the system is only an addition to that. Knights still progress through the ranks, D-S, but they also have a rank assigned to them signifying their ranks within the Order. Each rank has it's own duties and benefits. All promotions are done in character, but also through filling out a Request as you normally would. It is important to note that those who join the Dark Knights from a previous faction(or none), regardless of rank, start as a Page or Squire unless approved prior. Below you will find the ranks.
Page / Squire: Typically D Rank, these Knights are entry level. Fresh recruits that progress in two different ways. Pages are those Knights who simply want to attend a Basic Training for Knights, through Requests, and request to be promoted upon it's completion. While in Basic Training, Pages are not permitted to have threads with anyone nor can they leave Drackenstein. For those who are more story oriented, there is the Squire route. Squires are attached to a ranked Knight and shadow them in most of their threads, though they can have some of their own. Squires cannot leave Drackenstein without their Knight at their side. Pages and Squires are addressed as Page, or Squire, and then their name.
Knight: The bread and butter of the military, these Knights are usually C Rank and above, though there have been exceptions. Knights are usually assigned a Squire to mentor and train in both combat and the philosophy of the Knights, and as such they are the most influential and important role within the Knights. Knights are free to leave Drackenstein as they see fit. During battle, Knights are organized and led by Knight-Lieutenants; Knight's are addressed as Knight, and then their name.
Knight-Lieutenant: No longer assigned Squires, Knight-Lieutenants lead small forces consisting of Knights and their Squires into battle. They can be assigned to Knight-Captains as adjutants to help with their administrative duties, but this is usually an agreement between the two beforehand. Knight-Lieutenants are typically B Rank, there are no exceptions. This is the last rank to be seen on the field regularly. Knight-Lieutenants are referred to as Ser, their name.
Knight-Captain: Very few ever see this rank. Talented in battle, and embodying everything a Knight should be, they are hand picked by the Knight-Commander them self. Knight-Captain's can request to take a Squire, those this has to be approved by the Knight Commander and they cannot have an adjutant when leading a Squire. Typically A Rank, there has only ever been four exceptions to this rule. Knight-Captains are stationed, and travel, outside of Drackenstein often times work closely with the Royalty of Ahneby.
They command the Knight-Lieutenants, usually through regular updates and rarely in person. The Knight-Commander is the only person in Earthland they report to (besides any Royal), and as such they have more liberty than all of the other ranks. They are the Knight-Commander's eyes, ears, and hands and as such are their closest council. There are only ever four Knight-Captains in the Dark Knights at any given time. Knight-Captains are referred to as Captain, their name.
Knight-Commander: Commanding the entirety of the Dark Knights, this rank sees all of the liberty but a lot more restraint than the other ranks. If offered a place, the Knight-Commander must name a successor before stepping down should they take it. Knight-Commanders may take a Squire to mentor, or an adjutant of any rank they see fit. Knight-Commanders are responsible for providing a military mind to the Royalty, and have a large say any time military action is considered. They are responsible for everything the Knights accomplish, or fail at, and must be able to command or mobilize the entire force at a moment's notice. While not typically seen on the field, there have been a hand few of occasions where the Knight-Commanders have led charges. There is only ever one Knight-Commander active at a time. Knight-Commanders are referred to as either Commander, or Knight Commander.
